The work of Dean Cornwell is cover featured this issue, “The Dean of Illustrators” is still one of the most highly regarded artists from the golden age of magazine illustration and his work continues to be very influential. Other features include an article on the meticulous pen and ink illustrations of Murray Tinkelman, who is perhaps best known for his H.P. Lovecraft paperback covers. Also featured is a chapter from Frederic Taraba's forthcoming book Masters of American Illustration: 41 Illustrators and How they Work featuring Constantin Alajalov's work for The New Yorker and The Saturday Evening Post.

The issue is rounded out by short In Memoriam pieces covering the sad loss of both Barbara Louise Bradley and Dave Stevens. of Rocketeer and Bettie Page fame.
