Look and Learn

Look and Learn

This fabulous new site captures the magic and fun associated with one of the longest running Children's comic series. First published in 1962, Look and Learn was created with the intention of entertaining and educating children (and adults!) in history, science, nature and the Arts, with articles, games, mysteries, stories and competitions, all lavishly illustrated by many of the best artists of the day.

We look forward to offering more of the stunning original artwork that was drawn by such eminent artists as Geoff Campion, Graham Coton, Cecil Doughty, Ron and Gerry Embleton, Oliver Frey, Don Lawrence, Angus McBride, Eric Parker, John Millar Watt, Fortunino Matania and Patrick Nicolle, amongst many others.
Illustration magazine (UK)

Illustration magazine (UK)

A fabulous magazine about illustration - the artists, the collectors, the collections, the exhibitions, the history, the philosophy and the key events relating to this subject. We include great artists from the past as well as new graduates currently coming out of college.

We explore Children’s book illustrators alongside those who work on adult novels and classics - or even political manifestos and train timetables. We consider the humorous, the serious, the sinister and the surreal.

Cloud 109 Blog

Manga'esque comic strip/ graphic novel devoted to the adventures of three teenagers, Cary, Gina and Rabby whose dystopic and dysfunctional existence is alleviated via their online exploits in the cyber world of Cloud 109. Enjoy!

Bear Alley Blog (Steve Holland)

Steve is a freelance author and editor for the past 20 years. His interests are old British comics, books and magazines... and that's what you'll find here.

Frank Bellamy Checklist Blog (Norman Boyd)

Norman's blog is more than a reference work and covers all known Bellamy works. On the 12th October 1976 David Jackson started corresponding with Norman Boyd and swapped (that's 'traded' for non-UK people!) various pieces of information and photocopies (crude back then!). Norman left home and headed to college, got married, had kids etc. until one day he thought about what we had begun. He made contact with Paul Holder (http://www.frankbellamy.com) and discussed making a complete list of Frank Bellamy's works and the rest is history!

Peter Richardson (Artist)

Peter Richardson Illustrator and collaborator with the author David Orme of the adventures of Gina, Cary and Rabby as they attempt to navigate the perilous cyberworld of Cloud 109.

Ponent Mon

Fanfare / Ponent Mon is a working liaison between two people with one aim - to bring quality storytelling in the comic medium from wherever it is found to everywhere it should be.

Formed in 2003 they first focused on the French and Japanese alternative scene through Frédéric Boilet´s Nouvelle Manga movement but are widening their scope and geography with the newer titles.

With twelve Eisner and a two Ignatz nominations in the past 5 years plus a list of press reviews to die for, their choice of titles is peerless.

Comics UK

This website is dedicated to those great institutions, the British Comic and Story Paper. The eventual aim of this site is to be the definitive guide to all things British comic and story paper related and to complement the many excellent websites that are currently available, dedicating themselves to the humble British comic.

Dan Dare Info

We hope you enjoy our wide selection of original Dan Dare art by Frank Bellamy, Frank Hampson, Keith Page, Keith Watson and John Worsley. For a fabulous site on Dan Dare and associated British Comics visit Dan Dare Info.

Arts in Residence

Arts in Residence promotes cultural breaks in beautiful places.

We offer music courses in country houses and small country hotels that have been picked for their superbly appointed positions. They all create an atmosphere in which you can enjoy the experience of music and the arts in style, comfort and good company.

The delicious food, excellent wine and friendly ambience are as important as the music you will hear and explore. Our prices for a weekend or midweek break are fully inclusive: accommodation, breakfast, morning coffee, afternoon tea, and a four-course dinner with wine are all provided. There are no hidden extras.

We aim to create a house party atmosphere with groups of around twenty people who have plenty in common.

Gallerie Fabé

A contemporary master of colour and light, Fabé creates atmospheric paintings inspired by his travels and meetings. With many successful exhibitions, his work is fast becoming internationally admired and collected. See Fabrice Bettrancourt (Fabé) at Gallerie-Fabe.

Boursot's Wine

If you enjoy wine, particularly French wine, then we highly recommend Boursot’s Wine Collection, situated in Ardres, 15 minutes south of Calais.

Englishman Guy Boursot runs this excellent wine shop and his selection is without doubt far superior to the wines found in the big supermarkets in and around Calais and Boulogne or indeed in the UK. Prices start from as little as £2 per bottle with most coming in at less than £10. Fantastic value! Remember that because of the high tax on wine in the UK the quality of wine in a £4.99 bottle is far superior if bought in France than in the UK. Guy also runs regular talks, gourmet dinners, vineyard tours and wine tastings.
