First Edition of this magnificently illustrated history of the "Spider King" of France, who ruled from 1461 to 1483.
The text is in the original French language. The format of this volume with the text leaves tipped onto stubs so that the spectacular plates are fully visible and the huge double-page plates are cinematic in their effect.
Gold blocked page edges. 80 pages, frontispiece, 36 chromolithograph illustrations including 32 full-page and 4 double-page plates. Many of the illustrations overlay the text, and the leaves are all mounted on linen guards. A rare and beautiful book.
